Barbara Carnes is an internationally recognized consultant, speaker, facilitator, and writer with expertise in workplace learning, specifically in learning transfer and train-the-trainer. She is the co-author of the classic book Making Training Stick and author of Making Training Stick: A Training Transfer Field Guide (2nd Ed.), Making Learning Stick, and Making E-Learning Stick. With over 25 years of experience designing, developing, and delivering corporate training, Barbara conducts workshops in both face-to-face and virtual media for new and experienced workplace learning professionals throughout the US and in other countries. She is a frequent speaker at corporate learning conferences including the American Society for Training and Development International Conference, Training Conferences, the International Society for Performance Improvement, and Bob Pike’s Creative Training Techniques conference.
Barbara has a Ph.D. in Human and Organizational Systems from The Fielding Graduate University where her dissertation was on training transfer, and a Masters degree in Organizational Behavior from the University of Missouri – Kansas City.
In addition to conducting workshops, consulting, and writing, Barbara teaches graduate courses in human resource development for Washington University in St. Louis, Webster University, and the University of Phoenix.
